Among My Favourite Stores

The Marsh Store

Welcome to one of my favourite haunts in the area. The Marsh Store is located in picturesque Coldstream Ontario just 2 km. north of Hwy 22 (Egrement Rd.) at 10266 Ilderton Rd. The Marsh Store is a building with historic significance, being an 1869 general store/post office. In the late 1970's it was completely restored by the local conservation authority, and used for education purposes into the '80s. Times and government funding caused the store to be sold in the '90's when it became a popular local tea room and antique store. Tim and Shirley Bobier purchased the Marsh Store in the summer of 2004 and moved in with their trusty dog Nellie. They converted the upper level into their home and run a terrific quilting store in the old general store area downstairs.

The atmosphere in the store has not changed much since the 1860s except that there are no buggies parked out front. Inside you'll find hundreds of bolts of fabrics including Lonni Rossi, Buggy Barn, limited edition Japanese fabrics, Robin Randolph, Free Spirit and more.

Tim Bobier has recently purchased an APQS long arm quilting machine and does custom quilting work. Local folk say the ghost of Jacob March still cheerfully haunts the store.

I can be found teaching at the Marsh Store most Saturdays and Thursdays. To contact the Marsh Store, email Shirley Bobier or call 519-666-3330 or visit them at 10266 Ilderton Rd, Coldstream Ontario (Ilderton ON N0M 2A0): Hours of operation are Mon-Sat 10-5, Sunday by chance or appointment. Bus Tours welcome!
